| Enhancing the Presentation of the
Gospel
I. Our Purpose
The purpose of the Technical Ministry is to assist
our pastors, teachers and lay leaders in utilizing technology in the presentation
of the Gospel. The current rolls are sound, lighting, video and graphics.
The great thing about A/V is that we can truly help in every ministry
and outreach of The Moody Church.
Areas of involvement are:
II. Auditorium
The Moody Church’s auditorium has many areas
for involvement. It is the hub of the church for combining our entire
congregation.
A. Sound reinforcement
We have a professional-quality sound system
that we use so everyone can hear the message in word and song. Every
service requires equipment set-up, operation and dismantle.
B. Lighting
Our production lighting system illuminates the
platform, draws the attention, and accentuates the room and its architecture.
Since every service has different focal areas, our light instruments
are re-aimed on a regular basis.
C. Recording
Not many people know that we have a 24 track
digital recording room to record our services, concerts and special
events. Recordings are made weekly for our 3 syndicated radio programs
and now also audio and video streaming live over the internet.
D. Video
For the past year our new video projection system
has brought those preaching closer that ever in the auditorium. This
system consists of computer graphics for scripture, themes, worship
choruses and sermon outlines. Image magnification has been used as well,
which is cameras on the screens.
III. Meeting Rooms
The Moody Church has many other rooms that have
different types of audio systems, video systems and projection set-ups.
Sankey, Kappeler, Woolley and Philpot are rooms that require set-up, operation
and dismantle for the various meetings, ABF’s and ministries. Our
educational wing with Jacoby, Dixon and Borden has overheads and TV/VCR
set-ups that float between these rooms.
IV. Sunday School Classes
Several of our Sunday School (ABF) classes have
worship teams that lead musically, Sojourners, Crossroads (college), and
Youth classes need sound systems and use projection of songs in their
rooms.
V. Sidewalk Sunday School
This aggressive outreach into Cabrini Green neighborhood
has, as an integral part of the outreach, a sound system that can really
draw attention. Set-up, operation and dismantle all takes place on Saturday
afternoons.
VI. Video Ministry
We are developing the use of videotaping in the
life of The Moody Church that will bring a new tool for outreach and teaching
at church. With video streaming of services, using camcorders with our
missionaries, and highlighting different ministries of the church, video
can bring a closer focus on these ministries to the congregation. |
